Pikat

As the NAMARINA dance school, founded in 1956, continued to grow, the need for student equipment and supplies also increased. Seeing this situation, Maya Tamara, daughter of the late Nanny Lubis (founder of NAMARINA), established PIKAT “Dancetera Shop” in 1985 as an entrepreneurial initiative in the form of a store that supported the educational activities of Indonesia’s oldest ballet school.

PIKAT, which means “to attract,” and “Dancetera,” which refers to dance and all its interrelations, was founded based on the idea that an educational arts institution as part of the artistic chain cannot stand alone in fulfilling its role. This concept of attraction was first implemented by offering various products related to, but beyond, the basic needs of dance and exercise, such as accessories, fashion, and other crafts.

Throughout its history, PIKAT has also collaborated with several creative local businesses, such as GAGAS, a group focused on environmentally friendly and functional art and craft products.

In the middle of its journey (2010), PIKAT expanded its efforts by opening a canteen that attracted many individual businesses to contribute by presenting a variety of culinary offerings.

Approaching the third decade of the 21st century, the younger generation of NAMARINA and its partners agreed that it was time for PIKAT to be reborn with a new spirit through its three sub-units: Kios, Canteen, and Community. These sub-units aim not only to enhance the productivity and creativity of NAMARINA but also to attract the wider Indonesian community.
